THE BLOCKHOUSE is an exclusive collection of modern cabins nestled in the center of beautiful Hocking Hills! The Blockhouse cabins were designed in 2021 by owners, Kevin & Lisa Schmidlin. As the name implies, the building “blocks” interlock together to create a fun, modern twist to traditional local architecture. Our cabins offer a unique mix of luxury amenities, stunning vistas, customer service, privacy, and outdoor activities.

This stunning and modern cabin is not only a tribute to one of Kevin's favorite architects, Mies van der Rohe, but the exterior facade seems to echo the layers of ribs (or "rows") throughout the design. The Rohe Block offers a little bit of everything to everyone in this secluded retreat nestled in the woods. Whether you seek refuge tucked away in the comforting cantilevered bedrooms or perhaps a touch of inspiration perched atop the scenic rooftop lounge, you’ll have plenty to enjoy here at the Rohe Block, both inside and out."

Not one, but two rooftop decks make you feel like a bird sitting on a perch, staring down at the nature below. To start your morning, sip on a cup of coffee while listening to the gentle rapids of the Salt Creek across the way. And perhaps to end your night, gaze up at the stars on the cozy rooftop lounge. Whatever your agenda entails, the Block Tower is jam-packed with amenities that will make you feel like you're truly "glamping" in the heart of Hocking Hills. We hope you enjoy it!

Hi there….
Our names are Kevin & Lisa, and we live in Cincinnati, OH with our two boys, Ethan & Rowan. Together, we embody an active lifestyle filled with nutrition and fitness. One of our favorite activities to do as a family is hike. In fact, some of our most cherished memories have stemmed from our hiking adventures, with Hocking Hills topping the list! That was the catalyst that paved the way for our desire to have our own little piece of paradise, which was a brief escape from the hustle and bustle of the everyday demands back home. From there, The Blockhouse was born…
